Product : Upstream Pressure Control Valve / Constant Pressure Holding Valve. Generally, Nirmal’s Model BP/Series and CP/Series valves are used for this application.
Application : PSA Nitrogen Generation Plants are typically designed to generate N2 at about 5 Kg/cm2g pressure and with a specified flow capacity (Say 100 Nm3/Hr). As shown inline diagram, N2 from PSA Plant is stored in receiver at specified pressure and from this pipe is laid to process utilization. Now as long as process demand is higher than generation capacity, this will lead to pressure drop in receiver. Hence to avoid this difficulty a back pressure valve set at say 5 Kg/cm2g is installed on the discharge line from receiver. This valve will be open as long as receiver pressure is equal to or higher than set pressure (say 5 Kg/cm2g). No sooner the receiver pressure drop below set point (say 5 Kg/cm2g) because of higher flow demand, this BPRV will close and prevent drawing of N2 beyond rated capacity of PSA Plant. This valve is popularly known as “Pressure Holding Valve” (PHV).
